| Reminder to clubs getting Pool umpires | |
| Clubs getting Pool umpires are reminded they MUST provide an umpire to Essex or the East each week otherwise they could be deducted points. Any week that the nominated umpire is not available then a replacement MUST be provided and clubs should let Norman or Mick know in good time who it is. Also please note that umpire subscriptions MUST be paid by 1st September or otherwise they are not eligible and again you could lose points Finally some clubs have not yet entered start times for their games. This is important as we need to know if some umpires can do two games. Apologies for this early chasing but due to the three of us having holiday and hospital commitments we are working hard to ensure all runs smoothly during the early weeks of the season Norman, Mick and Andy Coaching and Pool sub committee | |
| News about the Byron's | |
| Bill Felton attended the Mens Champions Trophy at Monchengladbach recently and met Paul and Pauline Byron who now work with the MOD in Germany. Pauline was Treasurer and Pool secretary for Essex HUA before they moved over 5 years ago. Bill was able to udate them with the Essex news over dinner and the Byrons said they would welcome visits from any Essex umpires when in their area. They can be contacted on pbyron54@hotmail.com Mick Pullin | |
| Plea to club umpires | |
| Although we had a few new club umpires joining the Pool last season the success of our coaching efforts has meant the loss of three Pool umpires to the East with the likelyhood of three more very soon. This means we are desparate for more umpires to join us even if it you only did it once a month and it can also be arranged alongside your playing commitments. If any of you might be tempted to give it a try then please contact either of us. We can then arrange to see you on a club game. Those who have tried it have been pleasantly surprised at the level of support umpires in Essex are given and every opportunity is available to progress up the ladder if that is what you want to do. Norman Kerridge and Mick Pullin | |
| Pool Appointments | |
| We hope this season to be appointing Pool Umpires to Essex home games in the London League, Div1S and Div 2S for Mens and Div 1 for ladies. However, if we are short then Ladies Div 1 S may have preference over Mens Div 2 S. There are several regular and part time Pool umpires who have not entered their availability. Please do so ASAP Norman Kerridge and Mick Pullin | |

| Couple of request'd from League Committee | |
| When clubs are inputting their start times for fixtures for the coming season, please remember that times are based on a 24 hour clock so please take care when entering times. Last season, some confusion occured by clubs entering the wrong times eg 02.00 instead of 14.00. Player registrations: Could all clubs please ensure they check with players before registering them and do not just assume these people are still playing for your club. Already we have 25 duplicate registrations and those that have kindly checked for me found out that players have gone elsewhere to play their hockey. Please check before doing your registrations.
